School has started!!

Hi everyone!! Kenny and I are doing good. We are both well and healthy. I was sick a few weeks ago, but I am feeling much better now. Our barefoot class has ended and school has now started. We went to a few days of orientation and on Sept 1st our classes began. Kenny and I were fortunate enough to get to be in the same class. The classes are going good, but are definitely challenging. Our teachers are good and very patient with us. School starts at 7:30, but Kenny and I don't have our first class until 8:25. We love that!! Our first class is Phonetics where we are learning the alphabet and there sounds. We are being tested on it very soon. Our second class is Grammar. Right now we are learning verbs and how to conjugate them. In our third class we work on having conversations with people in Spanish. To say the least our teachers have fun listening to us. Of course the classes will get harder as we go along. Right now the teachers use English so we can understand them. As we get further into school they will start teaching only in Spanish. We enjoy going to school, but there is a lot of memorization and a lot of homework. We don't have much time for anything else. We go to chapel 2 times a week. We really enjoy that. The services are in English and are very good.
Other than school while in Costa Rica we have to involved in some kind of ministry. We are in the process of choosing one. I also go to a ladies prayer group that meets once a week. As you can see we are doing well and are staying busy. Hopefully sometime soon we will be able to write a little bit in spanish.
We hope everyone is doing well back home. We ask that everyone pray for us as we start memorizing everything we need to know. Pray that the language would come easy to us. We also ask that you would continue to pray for our safety, our families back home and the missionaries in Juarez, Mexico. We will continue to update as the days go by. Everyone take care.

Here in Costa Rica!

Hey everyone we are here in Costa Rica. We finally got internet this past Monday. We have been so busy ever since we got here. We have been here for two weeks now. We started in a Barefoot Class soon after we got here. That has really been an experience. We are learning some basic things that we need to know in order for us to be able to get around. It has been very good to know these things. The class has not been very easy at least for me, because we have to try and speak in spanish and on top on of that we have to try and understand the teacher who is speaking in spanish herself. She is a good teacher though. We have to go out in town and try and talk to the people. We have been on a field trip, had to go and ride the bus, at least we went in a group for this, and we also had to go into stores and ask the people that worked there some questions about what things cost and things like that. And mind you we have to try and do all of these things speaking spanish. Easier said than done. Our days consist of getting up at 5:00, being in class by 7:30 everyday till 11:00 or so and then we go home to have some lunch. We go out in the afternoon and try and do our homework, and I do mean try. We cook some supper and usually are in bed between 8:30 and 9:00. The day goes by pretty fast. Well, I'll go for now.
God Bless,
Kenny and Elizabeth

Getting Ready To Go!

Hi Family and Friends,

We are finally closing in on the last few days here in the states. We will be leaving July 23rd for Costa Rica. In Costa Rica we will be learning the Spanish language. We will be in school August 25th through December 11th.

We have enjoyed being home with our children, grandchildren and friends for the past month. We are going to miss them so very much.

As of now we are in the process of packing, unpacking and repacking. It is so hectic and confusing. Hopefully we will end up in Costa Rica with everything we need. After packing our next step will be getting to the airport and getting our luggage where it needs to be. Pray for us as we attempt these very important tasks.

We would like you to pray for our family as we say good-bye. Please pray for safe travel as well. We would also like to ask you to pray for us as we learn Spanish in such a short period of time.

This is our first on many blogs. We will be updating you on our travels so please stay tuned.
